Why is this girl smiling?
Dr. Bill Clemmer encountered this girl as he was part of a response to the outbreak of a deadly epidemic in a remote part of the DR Congo.
He
writes, “As we walked down the trail to the hospital followed by a
crowd of excited children this particular child captivated us with her
smile! In the middle of an unknown epidemic her fears were replaced
with the joy of the moment. That smile stayed with me through the rest
of our visit. Our physical presence in the midst of a deadly epidemic
and the material gifts from White Cross and others... were tangible
evidence that the people had not been abandoned to a horrible fate.”
The outbreak of the deadly Ebola Virus ultimately ended thanks to the
work of many people reminding us that when God's people work together
to help those who are suffering amazing things happen!
